Credit Union
Desjardins is a credit union located in Ontario and Québec. It was founded in 1900. It primarily serves Working-class Canadians.
Desjardins Group is Canada's largest financial cooperative and one of the largest cooperative financial groups in North America, headquartered in Lévis, Quebec. It traces its origins to 1900, when Alphonse Desjardins founded the country's first caisse populaire, and today operates as a federation of autonomous, member-owned caisses across Quebec and Ontario. Desjardins offers personal and business banking, mortgages, wealth management, and property and casualty insurance, returning a portion of its earnings to members and local communities through its ristourne (patronage dividend) program. Deposits held at its Quebec caisses are protected by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), while Desjardins Ontario Credit Union deposits are covered by Ontario's Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA).
